The 2025 ATP Tour season continues this week with three tournaments across two continents. Taylor Fritz and Lorenzo Musetti are the top two seeds at the hard-court ATP 500 Mubadala Citi DC Open in Washington, while two clay-court ATP 250 events will also take place in Europe.

Alexander Bublik headlines the field at the Generali Open in Kitzbuhel and Francisco Cerundolo defends his title at the Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag. ATPTour.com looks at the top storylines at each event.

FIVE THINGS TO WATCH IN WASHINGTON
1) Fritz ready to fire:
Fritz enjoyed another stellar grass-court season, during which he captured titles in Stuttgart and Eastbourne before reaching the semi-finals at Wimbledon, and he will hope to carry his momentum onto hard courts. The No. 4 player in the PIF ATP Rankings reached the semi-finals in his last appearance in D.C. in 2023 and enters as the top seed this year.

2) Can Musetti/Rune respond? Lorenzo Musetti and Holger Rune, who both fell to first-round defeats at Wimbledon, will aim to bounce back quickly in Washington, where they are seeded second and third, respectively. Musetti is making his debut, while Rune made his only previous appearance in 2022.

3) Americans in action: Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafoe and Alex Michelsen are among the Americans seeking triumph a triumph home soil. Brandon Nakashima, Marcos Giron and #NextGenATP Learner Tien are also in action.

4) Former champ Evans back in D.C.: Daniel Evans returns as a wild card to the site where he captured his second ATP Tour title in 2023. The Briton owns a 5-5 tour-level record this year, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index.

Watch Evans' triumph in Washington:

5) Kyrgios/Monfils feature in doubles field: Both former Washington champions in singles, Nick Kyrgios and Gael Monfils will this year team for the first time in a star-studded doubles pairing. Top seeds Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori are chasing their fourth title of the season.

FIVE THINGS TO WATCH IN KITZBUHEL
1) Bublik’s European summer continues:
Following his run in Gstaad, where he is into his first tour-level final on clay, Bublik will lead the field in Kitzbuhel. The 28-year-old will aim to continue his impressive pace from the past two months, highlighted by reaching the quarter-finals at Roland Garros and stunning Jannik Sinner en route to his second Halle crown.

2) Can former champ Baez stop slump? Since reaching the Bucharest final in April, Sebastian Baez has notched just two wins from nine tour-level matches on clay. The second-seeded Argentine will hope to turn his fortunes around at the site of his third ATP Tour title in 2023.

3) Home hopes: Austrians Filip Misolic, Sebastian Ofner, Lukas Neumayer and 19-year-old Joel Schwaerzler all hope to impress on home soil. Misolic reached his first ATP Tour final in Kitzbuhel in 2022 and arrives in good form after his quarter-final run in Bastad, which secured his Top 100 debut on Monday.

4) #NextGenATP Engel: Justin Engel, 17, gained entry through the Next Gen Accelerator, which offers increased opportunities for players aged 20 and under to compete at Tour-level. Engel, who last year became the first player born in 2007 or later to win an ATP Tour match, is 12th in the PIF ATP Live Race To Jeddah.

5) Krawietz/Puetz lead doubles: The reigning Nitto ATP Finals champions, Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz are the top seeds in the doubles field. They are chasing their second trophy of the season, but will face competition from the likes of Austrian Lucas Miedler — a two-time winner in Kitzbuhel — and his partner Francisco Cabral.

It All Adds Up

FIVE THINGS TO WATCH IN UMAG
1) Cerundolo’s title defence: Fresh from his run to the last four in Bastad, Cerundolo returns to defend his title in Umag, where he lifted his third and most recent tour-level title. Now with a 21-10 clay-court record in 2025, the Argentine trails only Carlos Alcaraz (22) for the most wins on the surface this year.

2) In-form seeded threats: Luciano Darderi and Camilo Ugo Carabelli will make the trip from Bastad to Umag in high spirits. Darderi outlasted top seed Cerundolo to reach the championship match, while Ugo Carabelli bowed out in the semi-finals.

3) Former winner Wawrinka: Stan Wawrinka has scored just one win from 10 tour-level matches this year, but the 40-year-old can look to his past forays in Umag as inspiration. He won the title in 2006 and reached the final in 2023, his most recent appearance at the event.

4) Prizmic seeks Jeddah qualification: Many eyes in Umag will be on 19-year-old home hope Dino Prizmic, who enters as a wild card. The Croatian, who faces Elmer Moller in his opener, is fourth in the PIF ATP Live Race To Jeddah.

5) Defending champ Andreozzi partners Arends in doubles: Guido Andreozzi and Sander Arends, who are into the Bastad final on Sunday, are the top seeds in the doubles draw. Andreozzi won his first ATP Tour title in Umag last year with Miguel Reyes-Varela.
