Both the ATP and WTA singles draws were revealed Saturday with several exciting first-round matches and potential blockbuster showdowns among the highlights. 

DC native Hailey Baptiste and rising American Ethan Quinn were the players who joined Tournament Chairman Mark Ein and other distinguished guests for the live draw ceremony, as fans in Market Square watched the tournament puzzle come together in real time.

PEGULA, NAVARRO, RYBAKINA & TAUSON HEADLINE WOMEN'S DRAW

In the women’s draw, 2024 US Open finalist and World No. 4 Jessica Pegula is the top seed, while World No. 11 and former UVA star Emma Navarro anchors the bottom half of the draw as the second seed.

The top four seeds in the women’s draw all received first-round byes with Grand Slam champion Elena Rybakina and three-time WTA titlist Clara Tauson rounding out the quartet.

Pegula, who captured her first WTA title in DC in 2019, will face 2021 US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez or rising Australian Maya Joint in her opening match. Grand Slam champion Sofia Kenin also looms in the top quarter of the draw. Kenin will meet DC’s Hailey Baptiste in a blockbuster first-round showdown.  

Rybakina will open her 2025 DC account against either Anastasia Potapova or 18-year-old Canadian wild card Victoria Mboko. Venus Williams is also in Rybakina’s quarter and will meet Peyton Stearns in another first-round blockbuster.

Tauson, who returns to DC ranked a career-high World No. 19, could meet Magda Linette in the quarterfinals if the seeds hold. Linette, the No. 8 seed, opens against American wild card and UVA alum Danielle Collins.

Navarro headlines a loaded bottom quarter with Grand slam champions Emma Raducanu and Naomi Osaka and former World No. 3 and 2023 DC finalist Maria Sakkari.

Navarro will open against either Sakkari or British No. 1 Katie Boulter. If the seeds hold, Navarro could face No. 7 Marta Kostyuk in the quarterfinals. Kostyuk will be tested in her opening match as she faces Raducanu, with the winner potentially meeting Osaka in the second round.

FRITZ, MUSETTI, RUNE & SHELTON HEADLINE MEN'S DRAW

On the ATP side, the top 16 seeds in the 48-player field all received first-round byes. Taylor Fritz returns to Washington for his fifth career appearance and his second as the tournament’s No. 1 seed. Italian World No. 7 Lorenzo Musetti anchors the bottom half of the draw as the No. 2 seed in his DC debut.

Fritz is fresh off a semifinal run at Wimbledon, which began with a five-set triumph over hard-serving Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. The two could meet again in Rock Creek Park should Mpetshi Perricard win his opening match against Australian Aleksander Vukic.

Two-time DC semifinalist Andrey Rublev and 19-year-old American Learner Tien also loom in the top quarter of the draw.

The top half of the draw also includes a potential All-American quarterfinal between No. 4 seed Ben Shelton and No. 6 seed and DMV native Frances Tiafoe. Tiafoe reached the semifinals last summer in DC - his deepest run to date at his hometown tournament. Shelton’s quarter also includes Canadian Gabriel Diallo and 2024 DC finalist Flavio Cobolli.

Should the seeds hold in the bottom half of the draw, No. 3 Holger Rune and No. 8 Daniil Medvedev could meet in the quarterfinals, while No. 2 Lorenzo Musetti and No. 7 Alex de Minaur are also positioned to meet in the last eight.

Musetti’s quarter also includes Wimbledon quarterfinalist Cameron Norrie, American wild card Ethan Quinn and UVA alum Brandon Nakashima.
