Both the ATP and WTA singles draws were revealed Saturday with several exciting first-round matches and potential blockbuster showdowns among the highlights.
In the women’s draw, 2024 US Open finalist and World No. 4 Jessica Pegula is the top seed, while World No. 11 and former UVA star Emma Navarro anchors the bottom half of the draw as the second seed.
On the ATP side, the top 16 seeds in the 48-player field all received first-round byes. Taylor Fritz returns to Washington for his fifth career appearance and his second as the tournament’s No. 1 seed. Italian World No. 7 Lorenzo Musetti anchors the bottom half of the draw as the No. 2 seed in his DC debut.
The top half of the draw also includes a potential All-American quarterfinal between No. 4 seed Ben Shelton and No. 6 seed and DMV native Frances Tiafoe. Tiafoe reached the semifinals last summer in DC - his deepest run to date at his hometown tournament. Shelton’s quarter also includes Canadian Gabriel Diallo and 2024 DC finalist Flavio Cobolli.
